Two Powerful Earthquakes Hit Italys Central Region

Italy Central region has been struck by two powerful earthquakes, with buildings damaged and scared residents pouring out into the streets.

Officials say a 5.5-magnitude quake struck at 19:10 local time (17:10 GMT), followed two hours later by a 6.1 magnitude tremor near Visso in Macerata province.

So far, no deaths have been reported but one person was injured.

There are also reports of downed power lines, damage to historic buildings and a landslide on a main road north of Rome.

The quakes come two months after a powerful earthquake struck Amatrice in the south, killing 295 people.

Wednesday’s earthquakes were felt across central Italy, including in the capital, Rome, where buildings shook and doors and windows rattled
